UFC Fight Night 35 results: T.J. Dillashaw cruises past Mike Easton en route to decision

Bantamweights T.J. Dillashaw and Mike Easton had a lot to live up to following an incredible comeback win from Yoel Romero. Both Dillashaw and Easton were ranked in the top ten coming in to tonight, but they were looking to move up the ladder and make a splash in the top five.

Round 1: Easton opened up the fight with a big kick and he continued throwing the strike as Dillashaw attempted to time his opponent. Dillashaw was waiting for the counter shot as Easton was the clear aggressor. Easton landed a huge shot to the body that knocked Dillashaw to his feet, but he regathered himself and landed a takedown. Easton exploded back up to his feet and was immediately pressed up against the cage by Dillashaw. Dillashaw comfortabe on the feet and was keeping his hands down, but his speed allowed him to defend anything Easton threw and immediately fire back with a shot. Scorecard: 10-9, Dillashaw.

Round 2: Dillashaw picked up where he left off to start the second round with some crisp combinations. Dillashaw landed a strong kick to the body twice in a row, before throwing a high kick that clipped Easton and cut him above the eye. Dillashaw immediately hopped Easton when he fell to the mat, where he looked to work his ground game and go for the kill. As Easton went to get back to his feet, Dillashaw landed a crushing knee directly on Easton’s chin. Easton threw some wild spinning strikes as a hail mary, but Dillashaw avoided any damage and went right for Easton’s back once again. Easton struggled to get anything going and Round 2 was all Dillashaw. Scorecard: 10-9, Dillashaw.

Round 3: Easton was told between rounds that he would need a knockout to earn the win, but he continued getting picked apart in the stand up department. Dillashaw was just too comfortable and in the zone as he landed combinations at will. Easton deserves credit for staying in the pocket throughout the fight, but Dillashaw was the better fighter and was the clear-cut winner. Scorecard: 10-9, Dillashaw.

FanSided Scorecard: 30-27, Dillashaw

Official Result: TJ Dillashaw def. Mike Easton via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
