Khabib Nurmagomedov offers to fight Gilbert Melendez, Nate Diaz at same time

Undefeated lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov has been searching for his next opponent, but the UFC has had a hard time finding someone to step up and take the fight. Both Gilbert Melendez and Nate Diaz have reportedly turned down the fight, which leaves the UFC looking for a capable opponent.

Nurmagomedov has been very vocal about his desire to return to the octagon, and he recently sent out a new challenge to the two Cesar Gracie Jiu Jitsu fighters. If it would get the job done, “The Eagle” joked that he would fight Melendez and Diaz at the same time.

“I understand that it’s going to be a tough fight for them. I don’t have as much of a name in the US right now as they do, so a loss to someone like myself with definitely set them back. So, I do get that,” Nurmagomedov said on The MMA Hour.

“I do get the business aspect of it, but I do think they should fight. If they say they are willing to fight the best, they should fight the best. If they want, I’ll take them both at once in the cage.

“This message is for Nate and Melendez, if you take the fight I won’t hit you hard, I’ll just wrestle you.”

Of course, that will obviously never happen.

However, Nurmagomedov says that he would also accept a fight with T.J. Grant, but if Grant also turns down the fight then he would accept a bout with Michael Johnson. If you’ve been following along with Nurmagomedov’s search for a new opponent, you would know that Johnson has already offered to take the fight.

“My goal is to fight Melendez, Grant or Diaz because I think they would be more of a challenge to me,” he said. “I would say that if one of those three does not accept a fight with me, I may have to fight him (Johnson), but he has losses in the UFC by decision and submission, so I don’t think he’s posing as much of a challenge at this point.”

Nurmagomedov is one of the most promising lightweights in the UFC, so let’s all hope that he can find an opponent soon and get back inside of the octagon.
