UFC Lightweight, Michael Johnson, will be fighting on the UFC Fight Night 37 card in London against former Blackzilian teammate, Melvin Guillard. Johnson took the fight on short notice after Ross Pearson was forced out of the bout due to an injury.
I recently sat down with Michael for an interview for his upcoming bout and asked him about another former teammate of his, Alistair Overeem. Overeem recently left the Blackzilian camp in favor of training in Thailand for his UFC 169 bout against Frank Mir.
Newly resigned UFC Light Heavyweight and fellow Blackzilian, Anthony Johnson, discussed Overeem’s exit with Damon Martin of Fox Sports, and he did not mince words:
I ain’t got no beef with him, I just don’t care about him. He’s not a Blackzilian, he ain’t no Blackzilian. Don’t even put him in that category. He’s Team Alistair, that’s it.
Michael Johnson, a teammate and friend of Anthony Johnson, agreed with his views on Overeem:
I have no problem with Alistair at all, but when it comes to him being a Blackzilian or him saying he was a teammate of the Blackzilians, I am going to have to completely agree with Anthony Johnson and say he wasn’t. I am not one to sugarcoat anything or lie about the obvious. He was not a teammate, but I have no problem with him.
