The opening bout of the UFC 170 pay per view card will be a Welterweight clash between two of the divisions’ brightest prospects. Former undefeated kickboxer, Stephen Thompson, takes on TUF Smashes winner, Robert Whitaker, in a bout that is sure to bring fireworks.
Thompson has transitioned into MMA very well thus far. He is 3-1 in the UFC and is a prospect that should not be missed. His striking abilities are nothing short of incredible, and he showed them off in his TKO win over Chris Clements his last time out. Robert Whitaker is another Welterweight prospect to watch out for. Whitaker is 2-1 in the UFC thus far and has looked impressive in his win over Colton Smith. Whitaker lost his most recent bout by split decision to Court McGee, and is looking to get back on the winning track tonight.
Round 1: They touch gloves to start. Thompson immediately throws two kicks; one leg kick and one high. Whitaker answers with a kick of his own.
