Nate Diaz asks for UFC release

You just never know what the Diaz brothers will do next. Today, TUF 5 winner Nate Diaz, is asking the UFC to release him so that he can move on with his career. Here is his tweet from earlier:

While everything is in speculation right now, Diaz’s request to be released has to be construed as a severing of ties with the UFC family. This likely dates back to when Dana White said Diaz turned down a bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov, which Diaz vehemently denied. Diaz insisted that he wanted to wait for a title shot, but the UFC was not ready to give him one just yet. Instead, Diaz’s friend and teammate, Gilbert Melendez, will get the next shot at UFC gold.

When Gilbert Melendez agreed to a contract with Bellator, which the UFC ultimately matched, Cesar Gracie warned the UFC that he may move his guys to Bellator if the UFC is not careful. Could this be a ploy by Nate to get what he wants from the UFC brass in similarity to Melendez? Only time will tell. We will keep you updated with any further information.
