Lyoto Machida joins UFC Tonight

UFC Middleweight contender and former Light Heavyweight champion, Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida, is fresh off his UFC Fight Night 36 victory over Gegard Mousasi just two weeks ago. That win may have cemented his status as the #1 contender, but a potential foot injury may put him on the sidelines for a couple of months.

Machida joined the UFC Tonight crew to clear the air and to discuss all things MMA, his next fight, his dance moves, dropping to Middleweight, fighting against fellow Brazilian fighters, Vitor Belfort’s chances against Chris Weidman at UFC 173, and much more. If you missed the segment, you can catch it in the video above.

Prior to UFC Fight Night 36, Dana White said that if Machida defeated Mousasi he would be the #1 contender for the UFC Middleweight championship. While White has yet to confirm or deny that, Machida seems determined to fight for the title in his next bout. At UFC 173, Chris Weidman faces off against Vitor Belfort for the UFC Middleweight championship. It is very likely that the winner of that bout will take on Lyoto Machida next.

If that is not the case, then it is likely that Machida will face off against fellow Brazilian, Jacare Souza, in a #1 contenders bout.
