Bellator 110 kicks off with two straight No Contests

Bellator is back tonight with Bellator 110 headlined by the Light Heavyweight tournament semi-final between Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Christian M’Pumbu. King Mo Lawal is in the co-main event, as he takes on Mikhail Zayats in the other Light Heavyweight tournament semi-final.

Before those fighters take center stage, Bellator has an exciting preliminary card that will set the tone for the show. Oddly enough, the first two bouts of the night ended in No Contests. First up was Marvin Maldonado vs. Rico DiSciullo, and about two minutes in Rico was on the attack and nearly finished Maldonado before nailing him with a few illegal knees. Referee John McCarthy called a stop to the bout a declared it a no contest when Maldonado could not continue. Check out the GIF of the finish below:

The next bout was a Heavyweight fight between Manny Lara and Josh Diekman. Only 18 seconds into the bout Lara was hit by a grazing left hand that caught his eye. Moments later Lara crumbled in pain from the eye poke, forcing the ref to call a stop to the bout. Due to the inadvertent eye poke, the bout was declared a no contest. Let’s hope the rest of the card has better outcomes than the first two bouts.
