Tony Ferguson vs Katsunori Kikuno set for UFC 173

The UFC has been stacking the UFC 173 event with exciting matchups throughout the card. Today, the UFC announced yet another intriguing clash of styles as former TUF winner, Tony Ferguson, takes on Japanese product, Katsunori Kikuno.

UFC News tweeted the matchup earlier today:

Ferguson, the TUF season 13 winner, returned to the Octagon this past October and got a ‘Submission of the night’ bonus for his D’arce choke on Mike Rio. The bout was Ferguson’s first since losing to Michael Johnson back in May of 2012. That loss snapped a six-fight winning streak for Ferguson, but he is now fully healthy and ready to make a run at the UFC Lightweight title.

Kikuno made his UFC debut in January at UFC Fight Night 34 in Singapore. That night he defeated Quinn Mulhern by unanimous decision to extend his winning streak to six straight. He hopes to get his seventh straight victory against Ferguson in May, and make a statement to all of the UFC Lightweights.

Here is the entire UFC 173 card as of now:

Chris Weidman vs. Lyoto Machida
James Krause vs. Jamie Varner
T.J. Dillashaw vs. Takeya Mizugaki
Michael Chiesa meets Francisco Trinaldo
Chris Holdsworth vs. Kyung Ho Kang
Doo Ho Choi vs. Sam Sicilia
Tony Ferguson vs. Katsunori Kikuno
