Anderson Silva doesn't believe he will ever fight Roy Jones Jr.

Anderson Silva has stated for years his desire to box against Roy Jones Jr. With all of his responsibilities regarding the UFC, it was unlikely that the bout would ever come to fruition. In a recent interview on a Brazilian talk show called ‘The Noite’, Silva explained why the bout won’t ever happen (Courtesy of BloodyElbow):

I don’t think this is going to happen. It’s not an idea politically well received by Dana and Lorenzo. I’m trying, I always bring that subject but they are irreducible. It would be historical Roy spanking of me but this is my dream. He is also very excited to do this but it is a business issue.

Roy Jones Jr. and Anderson are actually good friends, but both men have stated their willingness to box one another. This of course is not the first time a Mixed Martial Artist wanted to dabble in Boxing. Last year, UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones made headlines when he stated that he wanted to fight either of the Klitschko brothers. Jones later rescinded those comments, however, stating that he was simply joking.
