Rousimar Palhares passes pre-fight drug test for WSOF 9

The Nevada State Athletic Commission gave World Series of Fighting 9 main event participant Rousimar Palhares a drug test prior to his welterweight title fight this weekend, and the results just came back on Thursday — two days before the fight.

Had Palhares failed the test, WSOF would have been left scrambling for a new opponent for current champion Steve Carl, but they received some good news when his drug test came back negative.

Saturday night’s fight can now go on as planned, as long as the two me successfully make weight on Friday.

WSOF 9 takes place at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and airs live on NBC Sports Network.
