One of the top women’s mixed martial arts prospects in the world, Marina Shafir, is set to make her highly anticipated professional debut on April 12. While her debut is just around the corner, Shafir has yet to learn who her opponent will be but that is not taking away from her focus.

Shafir recently sat down with Fight Hub TV to discuss the upcoming bout, as well as a potential bout with the fighter that many believe to be the top 145-pounder on the planet, Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino.

When asked about when she feels she will be ready to face Cyborg in the cage, Shafir gave the timeline of one to one and a half years. She also shared her prediction that Cyborg will be unable to make the cut down to 135, which she is targeting for later this fall in hopes of setting up a big fight with Shafir’s best friend and training partner Ronda Rousey, the UFC women’s bantamweight champion.

“I watch her fights every day before I go to bed. Every single day I watch her fights on YouTube. I stalk her on Instagram, I stalk her on Twitter, I stalk her on Facebook. I’m very aware of what she’s doing and what she’s thinking,” Shafir said in the interview.

Shafir added that Cyborg’s Muay Thai loss to Jorina Baars exposed all of the holes in her game that her team has seen before and the loss “humified” the Invicta FC champ and caused her to no longer be looked at as a “big scary monster.”

Shafir has all of the talent it takes to become a big star in women’s MMA, but first it must begin with a win in her pro debut.

If she gets past that fight and continues to rack up the win, along with Cyborg failing to make 135, a potential Cyborg vs. Shafir ticket could be one of the biggest sellers in women’s MMA.
