After a successful return to the UFC’s Octagon this past month, Anthony “Rumble” Johnson is set to make a quick turnaround as he faces off against Antonio Rogerio “Minotoro” Nogueira at UFC on FOX 12 on July 26.
Johnson returned to the UFC on a six-fight winning streak after a two-year absence this past month. The UFC immediately threw Johnson to the wolves by giving him one of the top contenders in the division, Phil Davis, at UFC 172.
Johnson thoroughly dominated Davis at every turn in the fight, ultimately sealing a unanimous decision victory.
Nogueira has seemingly been out of action forever. After his surprising defeat of Rashad Evans at UFC 156, Nogueira battled multiple injuries that forced him out of many potential match ups.
Being on the sidelines for so long has made Nogueira lose his spot in the UFC rankings, but he now has a chance to make noise in the division once again. It will be interesting to see if Nogueira can actually make it through a training camp without injury.
As of now, reports are stating that this bout will be on the main card, but will not serve as the main event of UFC on FOX 12.
