Cole Miller injured; out of Conor McGregor fight

The UFC Fight Night: Dublin main event has undergone a last minute change just days before tickets were set to go on sale. Instead of watching Irish star Conor McGregor go head-to-head with rival Cole Miller, the featherweight contender will be taking on Brazilian slugger Diego Brandao.

The UFC announced the change on Tuesday evening.

McGregor suffered a thumb injury that required surgery to repair torn ligaments.

As a result, Miller is now in a cast and unable to fight.

While not having McGregor and Miller face off is a bit of a disappointment — especially considering the pre-fight trash talk that we will be missing out on — UFC president Dana White appears confident that Barao will be a worthy replacement that will bring the heat.

“Diego Brandao is explosive and a well-rounded fighter. This should be a war,” said White, via

“UFC Fight Night 46: McGregor vs. Brandao” will be taking place July 19, 2014 at The O2 in Dublin, Ireland. The event is expected to air on UFC Fight Pass.
