Danny Castillo vs. Tony Ferguson set for UFC 176

The UFC’s summer return to Los Angeles continues to grow, as the company added a lightweight scrap to UFC 176.

Danny Castillo looks to continue his winning ways after scoring a jaw-dropping knockout victory over Charlie Brenneman at UFC 172 in April. The 34-year old Castillo has seven UFC wins to his credit, and defeated highly regarded fighters Dustin Poirier and Ricardo Lamas prior to his UFC debut.

Ultimate Fighter veteran Tony Ferguson also comes into this bout following a TKO victory, as he defeated Katsunori Kikuno just a few weeks ago at UFC 173. Ferguson will try to improve his 5-1 record in the UFC.

The event will be headlined by a Featherweight title re-match between Jose Aldo and Chad “Money” Mendes.

As of now, the UFC 176 card includes:

Champion Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes – featherweight title
Danny Castillo vs. Tony Ferguson
Jussier Formiga vs. Zach Makovsky
Fabricio Camoes vs. Gray Maynard
Shayna Baszler vs. Bethe Correia
Walmir Lazaro vs. James Vick
Derek Brunson vs. Lorenz Larkin
Bobby Green vs. Abel Trujillo

UFC 176 will take place August 2 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The main card will air live on pay-per-view following preliminary bouts scheduled for Fox Sports 1, and UFC Fight Pass.
