On Friday afternoon, the official weigh-ins were held for UFC Fight Night 44: Swanson vs. Stephens. When Kelvin Gastelum, who is fighting in the co-main event, stepped up to the scale, he once again struggled with his weight.
Gastelum came in at 173 pounds — two pounds over the weterweight limit — but he had two hours to cut the additional weight.
When Gastelum came out to the scale a second time with the towel, he once again missed the mark.
From Marc Ramondi of FOX Sports who is on the scene in San Antonio:
Gastelum is at 172 3/4. Misses weight a second time.

Gastelum will not attempt to make weight another time and will have to forfeit 20 percent of his purse to Nicholas Musoke.
Moving forward, Gastelum will need to reevaluate the division that he fights in or make some changes to his camp and weight cutting plan if he wants to remain at 170 pounds. If not, he could find himself on the fast track out of the UFC or needing to bump up to middleweight.
