The UFC will be returning to Japan on Sept. 20 for an event at Saitama Arena in Saitama, Japan. As the UFC prepares for the event, they are pulling out all of the big guns and loading up the fight card with all of the top Japanese stars currently under the UFC banner.
One of those fighters is Yoshihiro Akiyama, who has not fought inside of the Octagon since February of 2012.
Despite losing four straight bouts inside of the UFC, he remains one of the top Japanese superstars and the UFC is willing to give him another shot.
According to MMAjunkie.com, Akiyama vs. Noke is being targeted for the event though the bout agreement is not currently finalized.
If the fight becomes official, both men will likely need a win if they ever want to fight in the UFC again.
Noke would enter the bout losing three of his last four bouts, so it could set up for a great fight with both men looking to avoid getting the ax.
UFC Fight Night 52 will be headlined by a heavyweight slugfest between Mark Hunt and Roy “Big Country” Nelson.
Here is a look at the current fight card for UFC Fight Night 52 in Japan:
- Mark Hunt vs. Roy Nelson
- Rin Nakai vs. Miesha Tate
- Chris Cariaso vs. Kyoji Horiguchi
