The women’s bantamweight division was on display Wednesday night at UFC Fight Night 45 at the Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey when TUF 18 standout and Ronda Rousey training partner Jessamyn Duke faced off against Invicta FC veteran Leslie Smith.
Both women were looking to get back in the win column after suffering losses in their most recent appearances inside of the Octagon.
Play-by-play of the bout below:
Round 1: Duke was throwing out her jab to begin the bout as she looked to keep Leslie at range with her big reach advantage. Duke was moving around the Octagon well, but Smith was finding a home from her straight shots and opened up a cut on Duke early. Smith was landing big shots every time she got inside of Duke’s range and was attacking the lead leg of Duke. Smith looked for a shot to the body, but Duke caught the kick. Smith kept her balance and began to pour on the pressure before landing a devastating body shot that forced Duke to crumble to the mat.
The referee jumped in to stop the bout after Duke turtled up.
Official Result: Leslie Smith def. Jessamyn Duke via TKO (strikes) – Round 1, 2:24
