After last night’s sensational UFC Fight Night 45 card concluded, it did not take long for Khabib Nurmagomedov to make it known that he wants Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone next.
Cerrone notched his fourth straight victory last night when he knocked out Jim Miller via a brutal head kick. The win was not only his fourth straight win, but also his fourth straight finish. Last night’s headkick KO gave Cerrone sole possession of the record for most finishes (12) in UFC/WEC lightweight history.
Cerrone is currently ranked No. 6 in the lightweight division, but that is sure to change once the rankings are updated. No. 4 ranked lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov is undefeated in the UFC, and stated once again today that he wants a No. 1 contender fight with Cerrone.
In fact, Nurmagomedov wants a main event fight, as he is ready to test himself over five rounds.

This is as easy as matchmaking gets for the UFC. Expect Cerrone and Nurmagomedov to face off later this year in order to determine the next challenger for the UFC lightweight championship.
As of now, the lightweight division is in sort of a logjam as Anthony Pettis will not be defending his title until December against Gilbert Melendez. With that timing, Cerrone may take on Nurmagomedov in September or October and the winner may have to face off against Benson Henderson for the right to fight for the title if in fact Henderson gets by Rafael Dos Anjos next month.
