Ladies and gentlemen, he’s back. Just days after Nick Diaz re-signed with the UFC, president Dana White has announced that Diaz will be taking on former middleweight champion Anderson Silva in early 2015.
The fight will take place on Jan. 31 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is expected to be UFC 183.
“The fight that the fans have been waiting for, the fight that the fans have been screaming for – we have made Anderson Silva vs. Nick Diaz, Jan. 31 in Las Vegas,” White said on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” Tuesday afternoon.
“It will be the main event, and it will be five rounds.”
Since Diaz re-signed with the UFC, fans have been clamoring for a bout with Anderson Silva.
Silva will be returning from a broken leg that he suffered during his UFC 168 loss to middleweight champion Chris Weidman in December of 2013.
There is no word on whether or not the event will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena or Mandalay Bay Events Center.
