TULSA- UFC Fight Night is live from Tulsa, Oklahoma. In the final fight of the prelim on Fox Sports 2, Neil Magny and Alex Garcia squared off in a welterweight match up.
From a spectator’s standpoint, it was easily the most tightly contested fight of the night and it looked like the judge’s decision could go either way.
Ultimately the judges ruled the fight in favor of Magny, giving him a unanimous decision. Two judges had him winning every round of the fight.
Despite the win, Magny was disappointed in his performance.
“That fight went very weird. Not at all what I was expecting and I’m a little disappointed,” Magny said. “The plan was to keep the distance and use my big reach advantage to pick him apart from the outside. I was trying to pressure him and wear him down but he really wouldn’t engage out there at all. It’s a difficult choice because you have to either press towards your opponent and open yourself up to be countered or hang back.”
While he might be disappointed with this fight and the performance, he can’t be disappointed with the way his year, winning four in a row, all in 2014, after starting his UFC career 1-2.
“I’m 4-0 this year in the Octagon so I’m ready to take on all comers. I want to stay active,” Magny said.
