Darren Rovell took a verbal jab at UFC president Dana White after the press conference.

Action Network HQ’s Darren Rovell and UFC president Dana White have had an ugly past to say the least. Their feud dates back to at least 2016, when Rovell criticized White for pushing Ronda Rousey into a title fight after a year away from the sport.

Now five years later, White and Rovell are still not on good terms. After Julianna Peña upset Amanda Nunes via rear-naked-choke at UFC 269, White got his chance to take a dig at Rovell for his comments on the UFC’s business practices and marketing ability of their champions.

“Dipshit Darren Rovell said that Amanda Nunes, you know, we were screwed, she would never be a star and all these other things,” White said at the post-fight presser. “I’ll tell you what — if Amanda Nunes had won tonight, the Kayla Harrison fight would be one of the biggest fights that you’ve ever seen. You know, stay out of our business, dipshit. You know nothing.”

Darren Rovell had his own response

Rovell had a clapback to White’s comments, as this is nothing new for the prominent sports personality.

“Dana is really great at taking shots at 1 in the morning, Rovell wrote. “He might have the potty mouth this forum applauds, but I’ll debate him in any forum on this topic with data and crush him. Name time and place.”

Peña’s upset over Nunes ended her six-year unbeaten streak, as an immediate rematch is likely on the horizon. The fight had long been brewing since Nunes’ defeat of Miesha Tate at UFC 200, but never materialized.

Now, the UFC women’s bantamweight title picture may look vastly different come 2022. But that doesn’t mean that some major fights can still get made when the time comes.
