Fedor Emelianenko drops Rampage Jackson in under three minutes in the main event at Bellator Japan.
Fedor Emelianenko defeated Quinton “Rampage” Jackson via KO, Round 1 – 2:44 at Bellator Japan on Dec. 28, 2019, live from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
Emelianenko says he may have fought the last bout of his career.
“I am very happy that I was here and able to entertain you guys and make you happy,” Emelianenko said in his post-fight interview. “Perhaps my career stops here.”
They touch gloves to start the fight. Emelianenko swings first but misses. He takes a moment to regroup and then lands a series of strikes before Jackson backs up and disengages. Emelianenko lands another clean right hand. Emelianenko comes forward again and in a flurry Jackson trips up and gets put against the cage. They separate after Jackson eats a lot of shots. Jackson comes forward and eats a leg kick from Emelianenko. Emelianenko comes forward again with a flurry of strikes and Jackson comes back with a strike then eats a right hand from Emelianenko and goes to the canvas to end the fight.
The pair met in Japan, a location that both fighters have found massive success in. Many fans felt as though they were re-living a part of PRIDE all over again.
Emelianenko was coming off a 35-second loss to Bellator champ-champ, Ryan Bader, at Bellator 214 nearly a year ago. Jackson came into the bout on the heels of a victory over Wanderlei Silva at Bellator 206.
