Here is how the bantamweight title fight between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber played out at UFC 199.

The co-main event of UFC 199 was a bantamweight title bout between champion Dominick Cruz and challenger Urijah Faber. The two men have a storied feud going back nearly a decade when Faber defeated Curz in a featherweight title back in the WEC.

Cruz won the rematch in the UFC, which was for the title, setting up a rubber match for the title.

Here is how the fight played out.

ROUND 1: The first round started with Cruz holding Faber down. Faber got the takedown but Cruz got top position in the scramble and as Faber got to his feet his shorts began to slip off as Cruz pinned him against the cage. Faber was able to escape and a break in action allowed Faber to adjust. The two men spent the rest of the round moving around the cage trading shots, both men landing. While Faber looked strong, Cruz dominated more of the fight and dictated control. Cruz landed a big left hook. FanSided Score: Cruz 10-9

ROUND 2: Cruz landed a big left hand that dropped Faber straight to his back. Cruz tried to pounce early but Faber did well to recover and ward off Cruz’s ground and pound to get back to his feet. Cruz went for a head kick and Faber got the single-leg takedown, but it didn’t amount to anything and the fight returned to their feet. Faber continued to retreat to buy time to recover while Cruz cautiously pursued. Cruz continued to work on Faber’s left leg with low kicks. FanSided Score: Cruz 10-9 (Cruz 20-18)

"Down goes Faber! The champ trying to finish this fight! #UFC199 #KingdomTV https://t.co/I87lmMtE0R— #UFC199 (@ufc) June 5, 2016"

ROUND 3: Cruz landed and stunned Faber again and early. Cruz would continually walk down Faber and back away to avoid any counter-attacks from Faber. At the end of the third round there was some post-whistle action between the two as they swiped at each other. Faber was likely down three rounds in the fight already and would need a finish, with his corner advising him to push forward. FanSided Score: Cruz 10-9 (Cruz 30-27)

ROUND 4: Cruz opened dancing and throwing a head kick that whiffed. Faber tried to get underhooks and a takedown but Cruz escaped, as he wiggled free Faber landed a shot. Cruz snuck inside and landed a big shot square on the chin. Cruz continued to just avoid any attacks from Faber. Cruz continued to push forward despite Faber being in a position of desperation. FanSided Score: Cruz 10-9 (Cruz 40-36)

ROUND 5: With his back against the wall, Urijah Faber needed a finish. He landed a strong right but Cruz seemed to weather it well. Cruz continued to dance and avoid punches. Faber went for a takedown and they went to the ground but lost dominant position to Cruz. Faber wasn’t able to get anything going. After the horn the two men hugged, despite being bitter rivals. FanSided Score: Cruz 10-9 (Cruz 50-45)
