UFC Vegas 11: Colby Covington vs. Tyron Woodley fight card.
The long-awaited grudge match between welterweight rivals Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley will finally take place this Saturday in the main event of UFC Vegas 11.
These two men have been going back and forth for years now, and Saturday night finally grants them the opportunity to get their hands on each other. Both Covington and Woodley have had a taste of UFC gold, with Covington winning the interim belt and Woodley winning and defending the undisputed belt four times. A win this weekend for Woodley probably won’t get him back in the title conversation considering he is 0-2 in his last two and hasn’t look very impressive. On the other hand, a statement win for Covington could very well get him into title talks, depending on how Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns plays out later this year.
The co-main event features the always busy Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone vs. Niko Price. Price has alternated wins and losses in his last six outings, while Cerrone is 0-4 in his last four and has not looked competitive in three of them. Also of note, Price has never gone to a decision during his UFC career. The Florida native has been finished in all four of his losses in the promotion, but all of his six wins have come via stoppage, racking up four performance of the night bonuses in the process. This could be the signature win Price needs to get himself a date with another top-15 opponent. On the other hand, a win for Cerrone here in his 36th UFC bout proves he’s still hungry and wants to remain competitive at 170 lb.
Also on the main card, Khamzat Chimaev looks to stay busy once again when he takes on Roufusport middleweight Gerald Meerschaert. Chimaev set the record for quickest UFC turnaround when he finished both Rhys McKee and John Phillips on Fight Island just 10 days apart.
