UFC tonight on Fox Sports started off with a bang, announcing that Franke Edgar and Cub Swanson would be fighting in the main event of the UFC Fight Night 57 event in Austin, Texas.

This will be Swanson’s second fight in Texas this year, having fought in the main event of the Fight Night in San Antonio in June.

As it stands right now, Cub Swanson and Frankie Edgar are the No. 3 and No. 4 ranked fighters in the UFC’s featherweight decision behind champion Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes. Aldo and Mendes are fighting in the main event of UFC 179 in October, but were originally scheduled to fight at UFC 176 in August.

The fight was postponed because of an injury Aldo suffered in training, and the event was scrapped completely. The winner of Swanson and Edgar would be inline for a title shot against the featherweight champion, whether that remains Aldo or is the newly crowned Mendes.

Here is the rest of the card as it stands right now:

  • Joseph Benavidez vs. Dustin Ortiz
  • Kailin Curran vs. Paige VanZant
  • Isaac Vallie-Flagg vs. Matt Wiman
  • Chico Camus vs. Brad Pickett
  • Luke Barnatt vs. Roger Narvaez
