An altercation between Dillon Danis and Nate Diaz was recorded outside Madison Square Garden after UFC 281.

As if UFC 281 was not already action-packed enough, the heat carried on outside Madison Square Garden after the event. Videos of Dillon Danis and his camp exchanging words with Nate Diaz surfaced on Twitter after the pay-per-view concluded. Between them stood Danis’ manager, Audie Attar, who tried to defuse the situation. Diaz is then seen flipping off and slapping a man who stood next to Danis before the crowd of bystanders erupted and the two were pulled away from each other.

On Sunday, Danis spoke with FanSided about the altercation.

“F*** the Diaz brothers”, Danis said.

In typical Diaz fashion, Diaz threw a cup of an unidentified beverage in Danis’ direction as they were getting separated. One angle shows Danis being held back as Diaz, unrestrained, walked away from the scuffle.

Both Danis and Diaz are no strangers to altercations outside the Octagon

Danis is infamous for the brawl that took place after his former training partner, Conor McGregor lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in 2019. In 2021, Danis was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct outside a bar in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. After failing to provide identification, Danis attempted to google his way into the establishment. Upon finding out that an internet search does not suffice, Danis retaliated and got taken down and choked by a bouncer as a result. Videos of the incident also flooded the internet. Due to injuries, Danis has been inactive in the cage. However, he is known to be actively trolling Twitter feeds and Instagram comment sections.

Diaz on the other hand is embraced for his uncaring character. His rivalry with Danis’ friend and former training partner, McGregor is one of the most followed in and out of the octagon. The Stockton slap is no stranger. Back in July, Diaz slapped a reporter during UFC 276, and before the altercation with Danis, Diaz slapped a member of Jake Paul’s team in October. After a win over Tony Ferguson back in September, Diaz finished his contract with the UFC.

“That’s a shocker, did he [Diaz] really?” UFC President Dana White said when told about the altercation on Saturday at the post-fight press conference. “Every time they [Diaz and company] show up, I expect something to happen.”

Whether or not the altercation started with Diaz slapping Danis is yet to be proven. The recorded recipient of Diaz’s slap is also yet to be identified.

“That’s all you get g,” Danis told FanSided when pressed for details about the incident.
