Marvin Vettori is heading into a huge main event fight at UFC Vegas 23, but with a new opponent ahead of him, he is questioning Darren Till’s injury.
Marvin Vettori has a big main event bout ahead of him, but it is against a new opponent. Vettori is slated to see Kevin Holland in the Octagon on Saturday night, but that was not the original plan. Vettori was supposed to face Darren Till, but Till was forced out of the bout due to injury. This fact is not completely believable to Vettori. He spoke to the media prior to the fight about Till and his injury.
“I am getting more suspicion by the day of this thing,” Vettori said of Till. “I expect him to put out the X-Ray of his collar bone or some stuff. I’m getting a little suspicious. And Derek Bruson coming up this high? I don’t know. Derek Brunson sounds like a little better match-up than myself so, I get suspicious but it’s ok. I have a fight and now the next thing is to put on the best performance of my life Saturday night.”
Till put out an emotional post when he announced that he had to leave the scheduled bout due to injury. Till is ranked fifth in the middleweight division, and Vettori sixth. Vettori is hinting that Till is awaiting an easier opponent by faking the injury.
“I don’t know, I really believed him in the beginning and then a lot of people said, ‘but do you really think so?’ Did he really break the collar bone? I said, ‘I think so,’ but then I don’t know. I was expecting him to show more,” Vettori said. “If I break my collarbone and I’m pulling out of a fight, then I’m giving proof that I broke my collarbone.”
