Cris “Cyborg” Justino blitzes Sinead Kavanagh, earns a vicious finish for the 20th career knockout at Bellator 271.
It didn’t take long for Bellator women’s featherweight champ Cris “Cyborg” Justino to find her groove on the feet. When she did, she was able to finish Sinead Kavanagh fast and in a hurry at Bellator 271.
Just seconds into the fight, Justino threw a series of blistering fast 1-2 combinations on the feet that clipped Kavanagh and forced her to the fence. Justino attempted to get the early takedown, but Kavanagh was able to stuff it. Justino then landed some heavy knees in the clinch that appeared to gas Kavanagh quickly.
After breaking the clinch, Justino landed a nasty right hook that sent Kavanagh collapsing to the canvas, before throwing some brutal ground-and-pound to finish the fight.
Cris “Cyborg” Justino further proves why she’s one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time
Justino came into the bout having made two-straight successful title defenses since earning the belt over Julia Budd at Bellator 238. Before her time in the Bellator cage, she was the UFC featherweight champion before losing the belt to Amanda Nunes by first-round knockout at UFC 232.
Kavanagh entered Bellator 271 looking to pull off a massive upset as the fifth-ranked contender in the women’s featherweight division. She has had an up-and-down tenure in Bellator with an overall professional record of 7-4 but earned back-to-back wins over Katharina Lehner and Olga Rubin en route to the title shot.
With the win over Kavanagh, Justino continues to rise to the all-time MMA list as one of the greatest fighters in modern history. She’ll now wait for a new contender to emerge as she continues her dominant streak in the Bellator cage.
