Khamzat Chimaev missed weight for the UFC 279 main event, and other fighters are calling him out for doing so.

Chimaev had to reach 171 pounds in order to fight Nate Diaz for the main event at UFC 279. Unfortunately for fans and Chimaev himself, he weighed in at 178.5 pounds, which was 7.5 pounds overweight.

This came just a day after Chimaev and Kevin Holland were involved in a backstage altercation during the main press event before UFC 279, forcing the cancelation of that media availability altogether, per FanSided’s Amy Kaplan.

Per Ariel Helwani, “Khamzat Chimaev push kicked Holland in the chest. Chimaev was reacting to things Holland has said recently and it set him off, I’m told. Once that was broken up the Chimaev-Diaz part of the story popped off and then the bottles started flying.”

The drama continued into Friday.

Upon missing weight, Chimaev replied “not that bad” and then walked off the stage, giving the middle finger in the process. It was one heck of a show. Chimaev was 11-0 entering this main event.

Dana White finds himself in a pickle, and one has to wonder what the repercussions will be for Chimaev.

For now, he’s getting roasted by colleagues, and rightly so. He screwed over the sport and main fight for a major UFC event.

It is hard to believe that so-called professionals would miss weight, especially at such an important event. Even at an undefeated 11-0, Chimaev has some explaining to do as it pertains to his actions this week at T-Mobile Arena.

More to come from Vegas, surely.
