Joe Musgrove OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (-115) - San Diego Padres at Miami Marlins

San Diego Padres starter Joe Musgrove has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season, and he faces one of the league’s worst offenses in the Miami Marlins on Monday.

The Marlins rank 29th in OPS, 30th in runs scored and have struck out the sixth most times in MLB over the last 30 days. On the season, the Marlins average 8.67 strikeouts per game, yet Musgrove only needs six punchouts to clear this prop.

This season, Musgrove has recorded six or more K’s in 14 of his 20 starts. Even though you have to lay the -135 juice, this is a favorable line against a bad team. -- Peter Dewey

Freddy Peralta UNDER 5.5 Strikeouts (-122) - Milwaukee Brewers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Peralta has made two starts since an extended IL stint due to injury and has gone below this mark in both. While he is a hard throwing righty, he is running into a buzzsaw in the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are fresh off a 12-game winning streak.

The Brewers starter has tossed 3.2 and 5 innings since returning to the rotation, and I don’t expect a ton of reps for him on Monday either. With another short leash and a rolling Dodgers lineup, I’m going under. – Reed Wallach

Freddy Peralta OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (+115) - Milwaukee Brewers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Reed's analysis on Peralta above makes plenty of sense, but I project the opposite to happen in his third game back since returning from injury, giving him more of an opportunity to turn it loose in a meaningful game at home.

Peralta was on a pitch count his last few starts, and now that it's out of the way, they'll let him go without concern.

Before getting hurt, Peralta hit this over in all but one of his previous seven starts. During that stretch, he averaged over 12 strikeouts per nine, only allowing one home run through 35.2 innings.

The Dodgers are certainly a tough out, but then again, facing Peralta when he's dealing is up there as well. If he's actually back and healthy, he should clear this line even against one of the league's best coming off a tough loss to end a long win streak. -- Ben Heisler

Alex Cobb UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (+110) - San Francisco Giants vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

I’m sorry, but I just can’t stop betting on the Diamondbacks to keep their strikeouts at a minimum. I sound like a broken record at this point, but dating back to July 1st, Arizona ranks second in Major League Baseball in strikeout rate, striking out on just 18.3% of their plate appearances.

Sure, Alex Cobb has surpassed this number in five-straight starts, but before his active streak started, he had back-to-back games against the Diamondbacks. His strikeout totals in those games? Three and Four.

If he stays under that number again tonight, we’re cashing a +110 ticket. -- Iain MacMillan
