Jets Have Worst 2023 Super Bowl Odds in NFL
By Matt De Saro
The 2021-22 NFL season has been over for less than 24-hours and already it’s time to look forward to September and the start of the next season. While it’s usually the contenders we start with, I wanted to begin with the bottom and work my way up the 2022-23 Super Bowl futures ladder. So who is the lucky team that drew the little straw this season? The New York Jets.
WynnBET Sportsbook opened the odds for the Jets at +20000 (bet $100 to profit $20,000) with the next closest team, the Houston Texans, at +15000. It’s clear that the oddsmakers have little faith in the Jets being able to put together a competitive team next year. I can’t say I blame them.
New York Jets Have Worst Odds to Win Super Bowl 57
The Jets have a long and illustrious history of losing, rebuilding, and then losing again. It is a cycle that has clung to the Jets like grim death since 1970. The year after their last appearance in the Super Bowl. While some might look at this season with rose-colored glasses and say the Jets doubled their wins in 2021, they only won two games last year and four this year. What we should see is a team that won seven games back in 2019 and six total in the two years that followed.
You know you are in a bad spot when you’re ranked below the likes of the New York Giants, Detroit Lions, and Houston Texans. The Jets are still a few years away from becoming competitive if such a thing is even possible, but I do feel like they don’t necessarily deserve to be ranked so far in dead last.
Both the Giants and Texans had, at the least, a season as bad as the Jets. New York also flashed some bright spots while the Giants, in particular, look like a team with no plan, no team, and barely a coach. While this doesn’t make the Jets a beatable team in this category, it does suggest that an OVER bet on whatever their season win total will be could be the way to go.
