The Michigan State Spartans are coming off their biggest win in years over Michigan and look like a legit playoff team. This weekend, MSU heads to West Lafayette Indiana for another Big Ten game against the Purdue Boilermakers

Michigan State is undefeated so far this year and boasts a 5-0 record in conference play. In other relevant news, MSU’s running back, Kenneth Walker III, is making a case for the Heisman Trophy and vaulted up the odds board after his game against Michigan. The Spartans put the game on his back and Walker produced 197 yards and five touchdowns.

Purdue is also having a good season, albeit not as good as Michigan State, and has a 5-3 record heading into Week 10. The Boilermakers have a 3-2 record in the Big Ten and are on track to gain bowl eligibility after last week’s win over Nebraska. It was Purdue’s defense that won them that game with four interceptions of Adrian Martines.

Michigan State vs. Purdue Prediction and Pick

Michigan State is unbeaten through nine weeks for the first time since 2015 and 5-0 in the Big Ten for the first time since 2013. I was not convinced about this team until this weekend against Michigan. While their offense was a bit one-dimensional with Walker most of the work, the results speak for themselves. I am not sure that this method will continue to win games for them down the stretch or in the playoffs, but it should be plenty enough to beat Purdue on Saturday.

Watching the Spartans rally from 16-points down to beat Michigan opened my eyes to how good this team can be. Michigan State is making its first trip to Purdue since 2014 and has beaten the Boilermakers in eight straight meetings. These teams last played in 2018 when MSU won 23-13 in East Lansing.

I think Michigan State has too much to play for to let Purdue come that close to beating them. They will be riding a massive wave of momentum after beating a fellow undefeated in-state conference rival and Walker is gunning for a Heisman. Back the Spartans to continue their march towards the CFP.

Prediction:Michigan State -3.0 (-110)
