Things are going sideways for the Lakers quickly in 2021-2022, sitting 16-17 on the year with concerns growing about the roster around LeBron James.

The team will be under an even bigger microscope on Christmas Day when the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference Brooklyn Nets come to town amidst questions of their own after their last three games were cancelled due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the team.

Who will be available for Brooklyn? Let's break down the odds first from WynnBET Sportsbook.

Nets vs. Lakers Odds, Spread and Total

Spread:

  • Nets: +1 (-110)
  • Lakers: -1 (-110)

Moneyline:

  • Nets: +100
  • Lakers: -120

Total: 224 (Over -110/Under -110)

Nets vs. Lakers Prediction and Pick

The Nets were forced to cancel three games over the past week in lead up to Christmas Day with the likes of James Harden and Kevin Durant among a majority of the Nets rotation that was put into the league's health and safety protocols.

However, Harden, Jevon Carter and Paul Millsap will be available for Saturday's game with the potential of others being able to play in Los Angeles.

The real key is Durant. If he can't go, the Nets are rightful underdogs, but I see value on the total.

Brooklyn has gone under in two of three games without Durant, and the Nets will likely play at a more methodical pace as they get their legs back after more than a week off the court. James Harden has not played since December 10th and may look to make this into a half court matchup.

The Nets have actually been a stout defensive team this season, fifth in defensive rating, and have been overinflated in regards to totals due to the star-driven nature of their team. Brooklyn has gone under in 17 of 28 games this season (one push), so I'll take a stab on the high total if Durant is out.

If KD is in, Nets beat the floundering Lakers behind an MVP performance. The Nets have won nine of 11 games with him in the lineup.

PICK: Under 224 if Durant is out, Nets ML if Durant is in
