The Houston Texans are hoping to play spoiler once again in Week 17 when they take on the San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers could clinch a playoff berth this week, but the Texans showed in their Week 16 win over the Los Angeles Chargers that they are far from a pushover.

Jimmy Garoppolo is dealing with a thumb injury that could force Trey Lance into the lineup at quarterback, and that has dropped this line at WynnBET Sportsbook from 49ers -14.5 to -12.5 this week:

Texans vs. 49ers Prediction and Pick

With Jimmy Garoppolo's status up in the air, this game is much harder to handicap given the fact that Lance has just one start in the 2021 season.

However, given the Texans’ ability to upset the Chargers in Week 16, I’m going to go for the ugly play here back Houston with the 12.5 points.

Kyle Shanahan has long struggled as a favorite against the spread, and while the 49ers should win this game, I’m not sure they’ll win it as easily as oddsmakers expect regardless of who is under center.

Davis Mills is making things interesting in Houston with his recent play, and I’m curious to see how the 49ers approach this game with Jimmy G banged up.

Pick: Texans +12.5 (-110)
