2021 EPL Odds: Surprising Results in Opening Weekend Causes Rapid Shift

It’s only one weekend into the 2021-2022 English Premier League season, and the overreactions are already firing off all over the internet.

Not only are people on social media acting like the season has already been decided one match into it, but oddsmakers have rapidly shifted the odds to win the league’s title.

Two of the most unexpected results for the opening weekend are the biggest causes for the odds movement. Brentford, who was playing its first ever English Premier League match in club history, down Arsenal 2-0 on opening night. Manchester City followed it up with an equally shocking result, as the clear betting favorite to win it all dropped its first match of the season 1-0 to Tottenham.

Arsenal was the biggest loser of the opening weekend, seeing their odds drop from +5000 to +10000 after an abysmal match against Brentford. Brentford, on the other hand, had their odds cut in half by WynnBET. They moved from 500/1 to 250/1 after their unlikely win against the Gunners.
