2021 U.S Open Odds: Who Can Hold Off Novak Djokovic from a Grand Slam?
The U.S. Open is just two weeks away, but the intrigue for who will win the final major of the year is completely here.
The biggest source of intrigue will be around Novak Djokovic. He’s coming off an Olympic campaign in which he failed to medal and had to withdraw from the mixed doubles. He had a meltdown during his semifinal match against Alexander Zverev and lost three matches in two days, which is the exact opposite of what 2021 has looked like for Djokovic.
With the tennis world ready to end the year on a high note, all eyes will be on Djokovic to see how he finishes the year out.

Djokovic Headed Toward Calendar Slam
Outside of seeing how he responds after his poor Olympic finish, all of the attention will be on Djokovic to see if he can pull off the Calendar slam. No man has pulled off the calendar slam since 1968 and Djokovic is the heavy favorite to pull it off.
It doesn’t seem as if anyone can challenge Djokovic, although the events in Tokyo could change that perspective. Djokovic was able to get one of the easier paths to the title at Wimbledon with many of the top players upset before they reached him.
At this point, it feels like Djokovic is in a video game and the U.S. Open is the final boss. Either we get to see history be made or one of the biggest upsets of the year. Regardless of what happens, it will be a great sight to see.
Who Can Knock Off Djokovic?
Although Daniil Medvedev is the closest competitor to Djokovic, Alexander Zverev is the most recent to knock Djokovic off of his pedestal. At +800, Zverev might have the best value. He's coming off an Olympic Gold medal and that momentum should carry over to Flushing, N.Y.
Roger Federer, who was +1200 to win the U.S. Open, announced that he would miss the tournament due to knee surgery. Federer is one of Djokovic's biggest rivals and won't be there to challenge him.
The other members of the top five, Tsitsipas and Nadal, have faced him in Major finals this year. They could have value if you believe that the experience will help them.
Right now though, Djokovic seems quite untouchable.
