2022 Stanley Cup Final Betting Trends: What to Know Before You Bet on Lightning vs. Avalanche
There are plenty of angles to look at when deciding who to bet on in the upcoming Stanley Cup Final between the Colorado Avalanche and Tampa Bay Lightning.
As always, you should take a peak at how each team has performed in the regular season as well as in the playoffs, but also keep in mind some key betting trends that will carry over into the Final.
As of right now, the Avalanche are -190 favorites at WynnBET, and the Lightning are +155 underdogs.
Here are three key betting trends you should know before placing your bet.
Avalanche Won Both Meetings vs. Lightning This Season
Due to them being in opposite conferences, the Avalanche and Lightning only played against each other twice this season. With that being said, it's important to note that the Avalanche won both meetings. They beat them 4-3 in Tampa Bay on October 23rd, and then again by a final score of 3-2 in Colorado on February 10th.
Another important note relating to their two previous meetings is that the odds were almost a pick' em. In each game, the home team was a -115 favorite. What has happened between now and then to make the Avs deserving of being -165 favorites ahead of Game 1 Wednesday night?
That's some food for thought.
Avalanche Are Undefeated on the Road in 2022 Playoffs
This trend won't come into play until Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final when the series heads to Tampa Bay, but the Avalanche are an undefeated 7-0 on the road during this year's playoffs. They obviously won all four road games against the Predators and Oilers in their series sweeps, and their two losses to the Blues came in the second round at home.
That clashes with the Lightning's stellar home record; 7-1 these playoffs, which includes a 7-0 run. Their only loss at home came in Game 3 of their opening round against the Maple Leafs.
Andrei Vasilevskiy is Lights Out in Series Clinching Games
If the Avalanche want to win the Stanley Cup, I would strongly advise that they don't give the Lightning a chance to close the series out. Goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy's numbers in series clinching games are completely unbelievable.
Six shutouts in his last eight series-clinching games? Including a .991 save percentage? That's absolutely unheard of.
If they have a chance to close it out against Colorado, Avs fans should be worried.
