As the WNBA enters the midpoint of the season, there are several noteworthy storylines to keep an eye on.

For us, that means reviewing betting futures for things to come, both in the short term as well as long term.

One such area of interest to me is the upcoming WNBA All-Star Game taking place today at Wintrust Arena in Chicago; the home of the defending champion Chicago Sky.

The race for the MVP of the All-Star Game should be a fascinating one, especially given Sue Bird playing in her final ASG of her career. Here's how the starting lineups shake out, along with the latest odds for Sunday's matchup.

Who Will Be the WNBA All Star Game MVP? (Picks and Predictions)

A’ja Wilson - Las Vegas Aces

Wilson, a member of the 15-6 Las Vegas Aces, is an obvious favorite to take over this year’s ASG. She won the league MVP award once already back in 2021 and is now the star of the best team in the West.

Wilson leads the Aces in points (18 PPG) and also leads the league in rebounding. She was chosen as one of the captains for this year’s ASG along with Stewart in her fourth ASG in five seasons.

The former MVP is a safe bet here.

Breanna Stewart - Seattle Storm

The race for the ASG MVP will likely come down to a duel between the two team captains, Wilson and Stewart. Both are making their fourth ASG appearance and both have WNBA MVP awards on their mantle. But, neither has been able to capture the elusive, albeit far less meaningful, All-Star Game MVP.

While Wilson leads the Aces in scoring, Stewart leads the entire league with a 21.0 PPG average.  The former 1st round pick is on top of her game right now and dropped 23 points on 9-15 shooting on Thursday against the Los Angeles Sparks. Stewart is also having a career year behind the arc and ranks 13th in the league in three-pointers made.

With the ASG often featuring lackluster defense, Steward could get hot from deep and really light up the scoreboard. She’s the best overall value bet out of the top three.

Kelsey Plum - Las Vegas Aces

Plum might not be favored for this spot, but she is the most intriguing name on this list for two reasons. The first is she is A’ja Wilson’s teammate and a big reason why the Aces hold down the top spot in the WNBA’s Western Conference. So, not only will they be competing together, but also against each other in a way. The other reason why Plum holds my interest is the fact she is making her ASG debut after an impressive breakout season. She’s also the only guard on this list.

Plum leads the league with 3.2 threes made per game and ranks second behind Stewart in scoring with 19.9 PPG. She does not rebound well, but she’s a sharpshooting guard who doesn't really need to hit the boards much. While this does limit her upside, it’s worth noting that she ranks 6th in assists with an average of 5.7 per game. Neither Steward nor Wilson is even close to that.

Plum is good enough from behind the arc to punish anyone in this game for not defending her tightly. And when a defender does step up, Plum’s passing prowess will save her. While she might not be the best bet, she's my play tomorrow at great odds.
