Two of the top teams in the American League face off on Monday night as the New York Yankees host the Toronto Blue Jays. Both of these teams got out to solid starts this season, but how should prop bettors focus on this game?

Let’s take a look at some prop odds for this showdown, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

3 Best Prop Bets for Blue Jays vs. Yankees

  • Alek Manoah OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (-134)
  • Jameson Taillon OVER 2.5 Earned Runs (+113)
  • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. OVER 1.5 Total Bases (-103)

Alek Manoah OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (-134)

Manoah was one of the most impressive rookies last season after going 9-2 in 20 starts with a 3.22 ERA. He even set a record for starting a career with four or fewer hits in 10 straight appearances. He shined again this spring with a 1-0 record in four starts spanning 14 innings. He finished with a microscopic 0.64 ERA with 12 strikeouts and just three walks.

He is primed to start the regular season and I think he dominates the Yankees through the first couple of innings. His strikeout rate is high enough to feel confident in the young righty.

Jameson Taillon OVER 2.5 Earned Runs (+113)

Taillon did more than expected for the Yankees last year after missing most of 2019 and all of 2020. He went 8-6 with a 4.30 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP. Taillon also racked up 140 strikeouts in 144 ⅓ innings. However, he has never been a “lights-out” guy and after his spring training, I don’t think that changes this year.

He is a mid-tier innings eater. Taillon went 1-1 in Spring Training with a 4.76 ERA and a WHIP of 1.06. After giving up five hits and three runs in 5 ⅔ innings, I think there is a good chance he coughs up a few before getting pulled.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. OVER 1.5 Total Bases (-103)

Guerrero has been red-hot to start the 2022 season. He is hitting .455 with a home run and four RBIs in his first three games. He has two multi-hit games so far and has an RBI in each contest thus far. With the way he is hitting, and Taillon’s rough spring, I would feel this is a very solid play to start the week.
