3 Best NBA Prop Bets for Mavericks vs. Suns Game 2 (Deandre Ayton, Chris Paul Will Dominate)
By Peter Dewey
The Phoenix Suns are looking to take a 2-0 series lead in the Western Conference semifinals when they host the Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic on Wednesday night.
Phoenix won and covered in the first game of this series, and it has a trend on its side as 13 of the last 17 home favorites of seven points or less have covered the spread.
I’m all about props today, so let’s get into my favorites for this matchup via WynnBET:
Best NBA Prop Bets for Mavericks vs. Suns
- Deandre Ayton OVER 19.5 Points (-105)
- Dorian Finney-Smith OVER 12.5 Points (-105)
- Chris Paul OVER 9.5 Assists (-115)
Deandre Ayton OVER 19.5 Points (-105)
I wish I hopped on the Deandre Ayton train sooner, but oddsmakers still haven't pushed him into the 20s for his points prop, which I think creates a bit of value.
The Mavericks had no answer for Ayton down low in Game 1, as he shot 12-for-20 from the floor on his way to 25 points and eight rebounds. Dwight Powell and Maxi Kleber simply aren’t big enough to truly contest Ayton in the paint.
Since the playoffs started, Ayton has scored 20 or more points in five of his seven games, and he’s scored 19 or more in six of seven. I think the Suns keep going back to him tonight until the Mavericks change their game plan defensively.
Dorian Finney-Smith OVER 12.5 Points (-105)
Dorian Finney-Smith is one of the best role players in the NBA, and he’s been a huge part of Dallas’ success in the playoffs.
DFS has cleared 12.5 points in five of seven playoff games so far this season, and he’s averaging 13.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in the postseason.
The Mavericks are going to rely on him to take advantage of open looks playing off of Luka Doncic, and DFS should see plenty of minutes since he’s one of the team’s best defenders.
Chris Paul OVER 9.5 Assists (-115)
I’ll ride this prop for Chris Paul, even though he had a postseason-low three assists in the team’s Game 1 win.
Paul has put up double-digit dimes in five of his seven playoff games, and I think he gets back to more of a playmaking role after Devin Booker took the lead in Game 1 with a team-high eight assists.
Normally this is heavily juiced to the OVER, so getting this prop at -115 odds is actually a solid value.
