The Milwaukee Bucks are struggling to string together wins but still have one of the most talented teams in the NBA. Tonight they get a soft defensive matchup against the Charlotte Hornets at home.

Players of this caliber are generally what is referred to as “matchup proof." This means that they are expected to shine no matter how good the opposing team is because they are just that good. This situation is kind of the opposite of that as the Hornets' 28th ranked scoring offense has had no answers for Giannis in their two previous meetings this season.

He is averaging a bonkers 36.3 points and 6.7 assists in those two games while shooting 58.1 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from downtown. Giannis dropped 50 on the Pacers last week and they have a better defense than the Hornets.

While I have had a lot of success lately betting on Ball’s turnover totals, I’m going to flip the script tonight and take the over on his steals total which sits at two. So far in February, Ball has gone over this total five times in 12 games and the Bucks are averaging 7.3 opponent steals per game. At these odds, I’m going to sprinkle a little on Ball to get his hands dirty tonight on defense and wreak some havoc. 

Bobby Portis OVER 0.5 Double-Doubles (-145)

Portis went off on Saturday night against the Nets with 30 points off 11-for-18 shooting and 12 rebounds in 36 minutes of work. Portis also shot 8-for-14 from downtown in a truly awe-inspiring performance from the Bucks big man. While Portis is not usually a double-double threat, with just two so far in February, this matchup is a juicy one for him.

As mentioned above, the Hornets have the fourth-worst scoring defense in the NBA, rank 20th in opponent points in the paint and 20th in defending the perimeter. These are all things that point to Portis having another big night for the reigning champs.
