3 Best NFL Teams to Bet Against the Spread So Far This Season
Through the first six weeks of the 2022 NFL season, there’s a handful of teams that have been solid against the spread this season. Three, however, stand above the rest.
So far, these three teams cover over 75% of the time, making them some of the best bets against the spread in the league. We're starting to see some separation at the top in the six-game sample, making it clear who is a good bet and who isn't.
Here are the top 3 teams in the NFL when it comes to covering the spread heading into Week 7.
Best NFL Teams ATS (Week 7)
Atlanta Falcons (6-0)
Atlanta hosted the No. 1 defense and not only covered, but won outright vs. the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6.
These are not the Falcons we thought we’d be getting this season. They can run the ball, play some defense and most importantly cover against the spread. As long as Atlanta gets set as a big underdog, they are live to cover every week.
I’m not sure I’m ready to back them as favorites, but they are money when nobody believes in them.
New York Giants (5-1)
The Giants are another team that has made the most of their situation. New York has been an underdog in four of its six games this season – covering in all four. New York’s rushing attack has powered it forward, allowing them to play ball control football.
I have the same philosophy about New York as I do for Atlanta. When they are an underdog, they have value. Outside of that, it’s going to be hard to trust the G-Men.
Buffalo Bills (4-1-1)
This one isn’t surprising. The Bills are widely considered as the best team in the league, so why wouldn’t they be one of the best teams against the spread. They just covered against the Chiefs on the road and have covered double-digit spreads twice this season. The inconsistency that we saw from them last season seems to be a thing of the past.
Buffalo has a great defense and probably the MVP of the league on its team – which only bolsters the argument for the Bills as the top team in football. Good teams win and great teams cover – and the Bills are making a statement through the first six weeks.
You'll have to wait until Week 8 to back the Bills however, as they are on a bye this week.
