We have a few new, but old names at the top of the best OVER list, with some wild results happening this week. The top three teams from last week went 0-2-1 in Week 8. The formula of backing good offenses and bad defenses wasn’t enough.

However, I still think the strategy is a good one. Many of the teams on the list this week fit that archetype, so let’s examine them.

Here are the best teams to bet the over on.

Detroit Lions (5-2)

The Lions have regained their top spot as the best OVER team in the league. They allowed 31 points in three quarters against the Dolphins. The offense also got back on track, which is a good sign moving forward. Detroit’s defense is going to be bad for the foreseeable future, so having the offense look decent again is just what we need to keep betting the OVER.

With the Green Bay Packers coming into town, this might be a spot to back a resurgence from Aaron Rodgers.

Cleveland Browns (5-2-1)

The Browns’ offense did their part to reach the OVER. Cleveland scored 32 points on Monday Night. However, it ended up pushing at 52 because its defense showed up and gave its best performance all year.

Cincinnati only scored 13 points, but it was also playing its first game without Ja’Marr Chase. I don’t expect the Browns to continue being this dominant force on defense moving forward, especially next week against the Miami Dolphins – who are one of the most efficient offenses in the league.

New Orleans Saints (5-3)

The Saints are in a similar position as the Browns. Their defense showed up like never before, pitching a shutout against the Raiders. Don’t bet on the Saints holding their opponents to zero often. New Orleans will revert back to its porous scoring defense, giving the OVER value in nearly every game.

The Baltimore Ravens, who are top 5 in scoring offense, come into town this week. Lamar Jackson is going to light them up and points will be put on the board. In a battle of struggling defenses, I like the OVER a lot.
