3 Best NFL Teams to Bet the UNDER on This Season
By Josh Yourish
Is defense cool again? It seems like defense is cool again, scoring is down across the league and if you’ve been betting the under this year then your bank account is up. Betting Over/Unders can be tricky especially this late in the season when Vegas has a good feeling on setting totals, but if you know the best teams to bet the under on, then you’ve got an advantage.
The teams that are producing a lot of unders aren’t necessarily the worst teams in the NFL, you could be especially surprised by No. 3 on this list.
Denver Broncos 11-1
Okay, this is one of the worst teams in football and this is no surprise to anyone. The Broncos offense is horrific this season and the cherry on top of this mess is how badly they’re wasting an incredible defensive season. Denver allows the second least points a game, 17.0 and scores the least, 13.8. If Nathaniel Hackett and Russell Wilson just scored 20 points in every game which would be a bottom 10 offense, they would be 9-3 after starting the year 8-1. Instead they’re 3-9 and an ATM for those betting the under.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10-2
Russell Wilson and Tom Brady are the quarterbacks of the two most profitable teams when betting the under. It’s surprising, but it makes perfect sense. Both of these teams get the benefit of the doubt at least somewhat from Vegas when the oddsmakers are setting these totals. They have to factor in the Tom Brady effect and that bumps the total a few points higher. Again this is another abysmal offense, 18.1 points a game and a top 5 defense, 18.3 points allowed.
Buffalo Bills 9-3
Josh Allen is on this list too?! Buffalo has an explosive offense, but that doesn’t mean they’ve been profitable if you’re taking the over in their games. They are No. 3 in scoring offense, just behind the Eagles and the Chiefs. The difference is they are also No. 4 in scoring defense allowing just 17.4 points. The expectations and reputation of this team is so clearly baked into the totals that are set for their games, and many times their defense is too good to go over that total. The under might be even more profitable down the stretch as winter in Buffalo takes its toll.
