3 Best Pitching Props for Julio Urias vs. Braves
By Matt De Saro
Game 4 of the NLCS between the Dodgers and Braves goes down tonight at Dodger Stadium with the Braves leading the series 2-1.
The last we saw of Urias was in Game 2 where he came out of the bullpen in a 5-4 loss to the Braves. He threw 14 pitches and coughed up two runs on three hits while striking out a pair. His 20-3 record in 32 starts this year with a 2.96 ERA and 26% strikeout rate was his best season yet. Among qualified starters, he ranked in the top-10 in ERA and strikeout rate.
Let’s take a look at some of the consensus numbers, along with prop odds at WynnBET Sportsbook and try to make a few bucks on Urias’ arm in Game 4.
Best Prop Bets for Braves vs Dodgers
- Julio Urias OVER 4.5 strikouts
- Julio Urias UNDER 15.5 outs recorded
- Julio Urias UNDER 0.5 home runs allowed
Julio Urias OVER 4.5 strikouts
Despite inconsistent usage, Urias is a strikeout machine. We got burned last time we bet on him after the Dodgers decided to deploy a starter for Game 5 of the NLDS against the Giants and Urias came in for limited work. Because of this, he fell just short of the strikeout total for that game of 5.5.
In this game, the odds have shifted in our favor and Urias needs only to sit down five Braves to cash this ticket for us. So long as he gets to start and the Dodgers roll with him, this should be a win for us at 4.5. Despite their success, the Dodgers are susceptible to strikeouts, ranking 17th in Ks per game on offense with 8.67.
WynnBET has this line posted at -125.
Julio Urias UNDER 15.5 outs recorded
While I think that Urias hangs in long enough to record the five strikeouts needed to cash our first pick, I don’t see him sticking around much longer than that. Despite his skills, Urias has not exactly been a workhorse in his career. He has pitched into the sixth inning only three times since the end of September and with the pressure of this game, I don’t expect him to hit that mark tonight.
Both teams have been timid about leaving pitchers in for too long and I think that trend continues in Game 4.
Julio Urias UNDER 0.5 home runs allowed
Aside from his ability to strike batters out, Urias also does a good job of keeping the ball in the park. He has given up just one home run in his last nine games and five in his last 15.
In the regular season, Uruas ranked 15th in the Majors with 20 home runs given up in 195.2 innings pitched.
Despite a rough NLDS Game 5 where he gave up a homer, it was his only of the postseason and I don’t expect that number to rise tonight.
