3 Best Player Props for Warriors vs. Lakers
By Peter Dewey
The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers will play a rematch of last year’s NBA Play-In Tournament matchup tonight in their season opener.
The Lakers and Warriors are both expected to compete for a title in the 2021-22 season, as WynnBET Sportsbook has the Lakers in second on the odds list at +400 while the Warriors are +900 (fourth).
The Lakers and LeBron James are three-point home favorites against Steph Curry and the Warriors in tonight’s matchup.
I’m going to focus on some player props in this matchup, and here are my three favorite ones to bet in tonight’s contest:
Best Prop Bets for Warriors vs. Lakers
- Steph Curry UNDER 33.5 Points
- Russell Westbrook OVER 9.5 Assists (-105)
- Anthony Davis to Record a Double-Double (+145)
Steph Curry UNDER 33.5 Points
There are very few instances where I would fade Steph Curry, but I can’t get to this number even the year after Steph won a scoring title.
He may end up erupting from 3-point range and reaching it, but if the Lakers send everyone at him tonight with Klay Thompson still sidelined, it could be a long night for Curry.
It’s worth noting that Steph had just 20 points on 7-of-21 shooting in the season opener last year.
Russell Westbrook OVER 9.5 Assists (-105)
Russell Westbrook has averaged double-digit assists per game in five of the last six seasons and I don’t expect that to change this year.
Russ may not have the ball in his hands as much with LeBron also running the show, but how many times has he had LeBron and Anthony Davis to pass the ball too?
I’d be surprised if Westbrook isn’t the team’s primary playmaker after the Lakers made several moves (adding Russ, Rajon Rondo and Kendrick Nunn) to improve the team's point-guard play this season.
Anthony Davis to Record a Double-Double (+145)
AD has 311 double-doubles in his career, and I like him to get there tonight at plus odds.
Last season was a bit of a lost year for Davis due to injuries, but he will face an undersized Warriors team tonight that may have to deploy James Wiseman on him at points if the Lakers go small.
Davis is going to eat in that matchup, and he should do a solid job rebounding even if Draymond Green draws him to start the game. I’ll take an AD double-double at +145.
