Nothing says Thanksgiving more than a crappy Lions team trying to win the one nationally broadcast game they get each year. This season, we get the added bonus of a floundering Bears team led by a lame duck coach with a backup quarterback opposing Detroit. Yippee!

But for true sports fans, none of this matters. The NFL is on TV and by lord I'm going to watch it even if it's less entertaining than an intramural ultimate frisbee game. And heck, betting on a game makes it interesting no matter what, so here we are with our best prop bets

Best Prop Bet Picks Bears vs Lions

  • Detroit Lions Under 18.5 Points (-105)
  • First TD Scorer David Montgomery (+325)
  • Bears First Half Total Points Under 10.5 (-120)

Detroit Lions Under 18.5 Points (-105)

The Lions are the third-worst offense in the NFL, averaging 16.0 points per game. They're on a short week and still don't know if Jared Goff or Tim Boyle will be their starter. This is an earlier kickoff than they're used to. They haven't gone over this number in four straight games and have only gone over it twice this season. You could say they're due for a breakout offensive game or maybe their defense or special teams scores one, but I'm not buying that.

First TD Scorer David Montgomery (+325)

The Lions give up the second-most rushing yards in the NFL and are 25th in rushing TDs allowed per game. The Bears run for the sixth most yards per game and average just under one rushing TD per game. Montgomery hasn't scored a TD in two straight games and with Andy Dalton starting in place of Justin Fields, I get the feeling the Bears will want to establish the run early and often. Montgomery is -286 to score a TD in this game overall, but I'd rather get him at plus odds and take the risk that he'll be the first TD scorer. This is worth a sprinkle.

Bears First Half Total Points Under 10.5 (-120)

The Lions defense has done a better job the last few games, holding the Steelers and Browns to 16 and 13 points respectively. The Bears offense, coming off a bye, floundered last week before a late surge against the Ravens. For all the reasons I mentioned in the Lions section above, I also think the Bears will struggle to score a ton of points in this game. Save yourself a full game's worth of sweat and take the Bears first-half under. If they score two touchdowns or have three scores in the 4-5 possession they get, chalk it up to bad luck because it certainly isn't good football.
