3 Best Prop Bets for Braves vs. Dodgers NLCS Game 4
By Matt De Saro
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves are in the middle of a war for the National League Pennant. The Dodgers bounced back in a major way last night after looking like a beaten team in the first two games of the series.
Now we have a series again! L.A. mounted a textbook comeback after going down 5-2 in Game 3 as Cody Bellinger and Mookie Betts came to save the day with a couple of timely hits.
With first pitch for Game 4 taking place at 8:08 pm ET / 5:08 pm PT, let's take a look at three of my favorite prop bets for tonight's NLCS matchup.
Prop odds are available at WynnBET Sportsbook.
Best Prop Bets for Braves vs Dodgers
- Julio Urias OVER 4.5 strikouts (-125)
- Austin Riley OVER 0.5 runs (+140)
- Dodgers score a run in the 1st inning (+175)
Julio Urias OVER 4.5 strikouts (-125)
After getting burned by Urias in his last “start” I am going to trust that the Dodgers actually let him start and pitch a few innings tonight. Ideally, he goes six. If that happens, I think this bet is a near-lock.
The last time I wrote about Urias was before he was slated to start Game 5 against the Giants. Instead, he was brought in as a reliever and threw four innings out of the bullpen. Urias still managed to strike out five but fell just short of his total of 5.5. We are going back to the well for this Game 4 in the hopes that the Dodgers don’t pull another switch on me.
Urias is supremely talented and strikes out batters at a rate of more than one per inning. If he manages to go five innings, on average, this is a winning bet.
Austin Riley OVER 0.5 runs (+140)
The Braves’ third-baseman Austin Riles is the current team leader in runs scored this postseason. In fact, Riley has crossed the plate in all but two of the Braves postseason games and has scored at least one in each of his previous five.
It helps that the young righty is hitting .346 with an OBP of .414 because you can’t score from the dugout. While Riley does strike out at an alarmingly high rate, totaling seven in this series alone, I think his ability to get on base and make smart decisions once there will add some profits to our prop picks tonight.
Dodgers score a run in the 1st inning (+175)
In terms of scoring runs in the first inning of games, the Dodgers rank 2nd in the majors behind the Boston Red Sox. The Dodgers score, on average, 0.72 runs per game in the first inning. It probably has a lot to do with the team’s overall success. By getting out in front of teams early, you are almost playing with a handicap.
Meanwhile, despite their success on the mound this year, the Braves take an inning or two to settle in. While the Dodgers rank first in the MLB in first-inning runs surrendered, followed by Houston, the Braves are 15th in the majors with an average of 0.55 runs surrendered in the first inning.
While we don’t know who will be starting just yet for the Braves, what we do know is how potent this Dodgers offense is. In the first two games of this series, the Dodgers have scored in the first inning in two of the. They scored twice in each of those games in the first inning in fact.
At these odds and with the momentum of last night’s win, I like their chances to make it 3 of 4 tonight.
