3 Best Prop Bets for Braves vs. Phillies in NLDS Game 4 (Trust Kyle Schwarber IN Potential Closeout)
By Josh Yourish
The Atlanta Braves came into the postseason looking to repeat, but now they’re backed into a corner by the Philadelphia Phillies after a 9-1 home win for the Phils. Atlanta’s newest star, Spencer Strider, wasn’t up to the challenge and now Brian Snitker must turn the ball over to Charlie Morton. The Phillies counter with Noah Snydergaard and the entire city of Philadelphia in and around Citizen Bank Park willing this team to the NLCS.
This makes for an interesting prop market, we have to think the same way as the managers of these teams and decide who will come through in the biggest game of the year.
Best Prop Bets for Braves vs. Phillies
- Kyle Schwarber To Hit A Home Run
- Noah Syndergaard Under 3.5 Strikeouts (-128)
- Travis d’Arnaud over 1.5 total bases (+140)
Kyle Schwarber To Hit A Home Run
I’m a Pirates fan, so I’ve watched Kyle Schwarber in big playoff games before. The home run he hit in the 2015 Wild Card game actually still hasn’t landed. Schwarber is just so clutch in big games. He is yet to homer this postseason, but he led the National League this year and just feels due. The only thing that Philly fans are missing so far this October is a Schwarbomb. He crushed a ball foul yesterday and I think that’ll get straightened out in Game 4.
Noah Syndergaard Under 3.5 Strikeouts
Syndergaard has the same hair as he did in New York, but that’s about the only similarity between these two versions of Thor. He is not the high velocity strikeout pitcher anymore. His injuries have forced him to lean into being a sinker ball pitcher with a 12th percentile strikeout rate and 11th percentile whiff rate. He simply doesn't miss bats anymore, and he’s definitely going to have a short leash today.
Travis d’Arnaud Over 1.5 Total Bases
d’Arnaud has been one of the best hitters in the Braves lineup this postseason. This is an offense that is struggling and he is fifth in postseason OPS. Though they are trying to repeat as World Series champions, this is a really young Atlanta team and d’Arnaud is one of the players that seems to set the tone for them. I think he finds a way on base a few times this game to try and salvage their season.
