The Colts and Texans start their season in Houston, with the expectations for the two teams miles away. Houston is just looking to find some stability in its rebuild, while the Colts are hoping to make a Super Bowl run this year.

Last season, the Colts won this series by a combined score of 62-3. Even if this game is sure fire blowout, there’s still other ways to get in on the action.

Here’s three prop bets to look at for Colts-Texans.

Best Prop Bets For Colts vs. Texans Week 1

  • Brandin Cooks OVER 58.5 Receiving Yards
  • Dameon Pierce OVER 48.5 Rushing Yards
  • Jonathan Taylor OVER 99.5 Rushing Yards

Brandin Cooks OVER 58.5 Receiving Yards

Brandin Cooks is one of the most under-the-radar and consistent players in the entire NFL, and has an opportunity to show his value this week. In two games against the Colts last season, Cooks saw 19 targets for 127 yards. The volume is going to be there for him. With Davis Mills expected to be a little bit better, watch out for Cooks to live up to his WR1 standing.

Dameon Pierce OVER 48.5 Rushing Yards

I am all aboard the Dameon Pierce hype train. His preseason was fantastic and he has all the momentum in the world coming into Week 1. The Colts allowed nearly 110 rushing yards per game last season. With Davis Mills a pure pocket quarterback and Rex Burkhead slated to serve as the pass-catching back, all the rushing opportunities are going to be funneled through Pierce.

Houston may be down in this game, but Pierce will certainly get the touches in his NFL debut.

Jonathan Taylor OVER 99.5 Rushing Yards

There’s honestly not much to say about this prop. Taylor is the reigning rushing leader, has a great offensive line and is going against the second-worst rushing defense in the league from last year. He’s going to do what he does best.

Game plan for the Colts to be up big, which means Taylor will get some extra carries at the end of the game to close things out.
